Nice catch. Carrieri has been linked to Carolina since day one so this shouldn't be a surprise. Honestly, I was surprised that he spent a season in USL-2 last year.

It is my understanding that the Kickers had his rights last year, so anything less than a transfer or a trade, he had to stay with Richmond last season.

Carrieri can be a great player but he's a team fungus at times. KEEP HIM HAPPY... or you're better off fielding a JV high school player.

Carrieri was a team player last year. That was a key to the Kickers winning the title.

Yep. Based on how I remember him from the Rapids, I'd perfer not to see him on the Railhawks. Let's hope he's changed his stripes.

I agree, I think Chris has grown up and mellowed out a little. And by mellowed out, I mean his temper - not his intensity on the pitch by any means.

This a great pick up for the RailHawks. Plus, the boy used to play with Rochester too so he knows the organization he's dealing with.

Ironically, I don't think schweitzer and carrieri played in rochester in the same year.

I'll say that Edozien was very good with New England. I think it was a mistake for the Revs to let him go.

He will do awesome for Carolina.

Good signings all around.

Agreed that Edozien is a good signing. His numbers for the Rev's Reserve team are pretty good, 7 goals in 11 games. Don't see that much production for Rochester last year though.

I'm a little surprised that only 3 of the players appear to have suited up for Rochester, I would have guessed at least four.

Jarrett, were you at the announcement, and if so, is that shirt Carrieri is wearing in the photo something they just slapped together? I hope so, because it looks pretty bush-league.

Norkus will get healthy and be an MVP type player for the club.

He can play anywhere in the field (maybe even keeper if you asked him). He is a great player. One healthy season is all he needs to break through. He was on pace to do it last season before he got injured. That guy is exactly the kind you need to start a franchise. Great signing. Too bad that it didn't work out for him to return to Puerto Rico.

To answer a few of the questions above...

I was not at the press conference (unfortunately) but have been in contact with several people that were.

I believe Caleb's injury was a hernia.

The "Ron" in that pictures was not in fact Ron Gridley, CFO, but Brian Wellman, Assistant GM.

The shirts were slapped together. No shirt contracts have been signed as of today. Last I heard they hadn't even finalized their home and away colors. I'm personally hoping for an orange kit, but that's my personal wish at this point.

As for O'Hara, the official word is that "O'Hara does not have a signed contract at this time with the Carolina RailHawks..."

There are several other players who are in various stages of negotiation/commitment. I'd expect to hear a few more players announced in the coming 4-6 weeks.

Thanks for answering Jarrett smile

I'm kind of (definitely?) hoping O'Hara does end signing with you all

My understanding is that is was a groin injury. It needed special surgery. He should be money in the bank next season. I talked to him last night and the guy is very excited. He's rehabbing his injury.

i think that if norkus is healthy, he might stand a chance against Coggins when they play charlotte in preseason. that is if he is playing in the back.haha...caleb is a great signing. i wish he would have come back to charlotte. i heard him and coggins were best friends, so that should be exciting to watch. i got my money on coggins.

I've seen Coggins and he is good. He is explosive. I'll still put my money on "Playstation" Norkus though. laugh

Well guys. Caleb suffer from "pubalgia" or "pubic osteitis" which is a painful inflamatory condition involving the pubic bones, pubic symphysis, and adjacent structures. It is a common condition for soccer players and he got surgery almost a month now.

I really hope he gets well and gets in top shape.

But, theres a complaint from the Islanders FC for "piracy". Apparently the Islanders, been from the caribbean, and not considering themselves pirates, have acussed the Carolina Roadkills of piracy.

They claim that Caleb Norkus have an "economical agreement" with the Islanders and therefore Caleb was not able to sign with the Roadkills.

But the Islanders also say that they dont want Caleb back to the team after what hes done.

And finally, the Islanders are going to the league with a complaint about this, not because they want Caleb back, but to prevent from happening again in the USL.

the link for the article is http://www.endi.com/noticia/futbol/deportes/penales/123330
but is in spanish. To lazy to translate now...

Now I've figured it out, reading the article on piracy linked above, I found the official diagnosis was pubalgia, which is commonly referred to as "sports hernia".
