Wasn\'t meant to be. All hopes of the Railhawks squeaking their way into this years playoffs were lost. Carolina did what they needed to do, with their 1-0 victory last night over Portland, a stoppage time goal by Martin Nunez giving the Railhawks all three points. Sadly the Minnesota-Montreal 3-1 result sealed the Railhawks faith, and the playoffs were gone.
So the Railhawks finish the 2008 season on
37 pts coming from

43. To say this season was a disappointment personally would be partially true. Not that I was total dominance from the boys this season, because I wasn't. I was hoping for an improvement. In 2007 the Railhawks averaged 1.14 points per match (32 points in 28 matches). This season it was 37 points from 30 games, which comes out to 1.23 points per match. An improvement, very small, but an improvement. Being in the USL First Division means the possibility of a good amount of turnover for every team, so from year to year things can change immensley. But from last year to this year, I see the club growing. Are there issues? Of course, but I'm proud of the way the boys played out the season. And I can't wait for them to start back up next season.
