Arctic Monkey’s inspire Crouch dance
At dance halls across Britain, soccer fans took to the newest dance -- Peter Crouch's Robot Dance.
The 6-foot-7 England striker Crouch, expected to see considerable playing time in the absence of injured star Wayne Rooney, first did the dance -- a jerky routine reminiscent of Star Wars' C3PO – after he scored in the England friendly against Hungary.
Prince William asked to see Crouch’s routine when he visited the England training camp.
Crouch, who scored a hat trick in England’s 6-0 win over Jamaica on Saturday, says he first tried out the routine at teammate David Beckham’s World Cup party while dancing to the Arctic Monkey's “I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor.”
Bookmakers are taking action on how Crouch will look at the World Cup.
"We are offering odds of 2-1 that he will perform it once in the tournament, 3-1 to bring it out twice and 4-1 for three or more,” said Graham Sharpe, a spokesperson for William Hill.
The bookmaker even offered odds of 50-1 that Crouch would win TV dance contest "Strictly Come Dancing."
Action on Crouch’s dance is William Hill’s top "novelty" bet.
"It has eclipsed interest in what haircut Beckham will be sporting for the opening game,” said Sharpe.
