But why don't you like him? You stated the teams that he coached, but never gave a reason. There was a time when I did not like him, but because I felt he was with D.C. United too long.

Chuckles, why do you think that Klinsmann could pick-up where Arena left off but no one else could do the same thing? Also, not long ago you were saying that whoever the next coach is, he should be "someone domestic". So why is it that you now think that no other American is good enough? The only reason I go for Klinsmann is that he lives here(U.S.). Besides, I think he has more going for him than anyone else. I don't like the idea of the Federation hiring someone from overseas just to take over. As far as what Big Dave said, I do remember that of Arena before he took the position. I guess I forgot because of his success.

I think this will be good for US Soccer in the long run. Bruce took the team from the bottom(last at the 98 WC) to being ranked in the top 5 in the world(not that that really means a whole lot). But he did put together a team that showed the world US soccer is improving and I hope it showed the US that they can compete in the world of international soccer.
Now the US needs a coach that can teach and show the US and its players that they can WIN rather than just compete. And right now I don't think there is a US born coach that can do that. They need to bring in some outside influence, someone who knows what its like to win big on the international stage. Someone to spice things up. If you just go back to the well that hasn't produced anything then all you're going to do is get the same results.

To me, it all points to J.K. being our next head coach. Of course, Glen 'Mooch' Myerchick could take over also. But the choices are limited, as far as I can see.

Which is why I don't understand you only wanting a "domestic" coach. When the choices are limited enough as it is, why limit it even further?

Because, anyone aside from those I have stated in my previous post, means we will probably have to start from scratch.

I look at it differently. True, whoever we bring in will most likely bring in their own style and way of coaching but unless they bring in a complete newbie, they will more than likely have a tried and true plan to use. So we won't be starting from scratch. It would just be different. Which is good. If Arena's way of doing things was no longer working*, then perhaps its time we do have an overhaul
*I know people have different opinions on whether his coaching was working any more or not, but if the Federation decided not to continue with him I would think its a pretty good guess that they didn't think it was working as well as it should be
