Well, I made it into Puerto Rico tonight. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn in Isla Verde and after a few hours struggle finally got the internet connection working.

Tomorrow will probably just be a little exploring, getting used to the area but I'll probably get to the stadium 90 minutes or so before the game so if anybody is around, look for my green and white striped Timbers scarf. It's the easiest way to pick me out if you want to say hi (or yell something at me) smile

I'm staying until Wednesday so should have a chance to see a few more things as long as the weather holds out. I'm excited to be here for the first time though, and look forward to the game tomorrow, and hopefully meeting some of you as well.

Please, somebody down there contact Allison! When I get a moment, I will call MIGHTYMOUSE on the phone, later today Allison.

Have a great trip! Isla Verde is a very nice part of town to be staying in.

Allie:

Welcome to The Island of Enchantment!

If you are staying until Wednesday only you will be pressed for time to see the best sights.

You have to see Old San Juan, but you probably did that today if you had good counsel.

You must hit the beaches sometime. You are staying in a good place to do that. But there are many more spectacular beaches around besides Isla Verde.

El Yunque and the Luquillo kioscs are a must but I am not sure you will manage. It is a full day's enterprise.

The same happens with Vieques and Culebra (towns on separate small islands). Excellent beaches and a lot of local flavor.

I think your only recourse is to choose one venue and manage as much as you can in your full day available and start planning to come back for a couple of weeks. There is a lot of people who would make it worth your while.

I will try to say hello tonight at the park (no yelling, except at the players and refs).

Hope you have a good time while here.

Yeivo
(Vicente)

Allie: I am sorry I missed you last night. I got to the park very late (went to the gym as usual and got tied up and then got into a car jam at the parking lot).

I only had a chance to look for you during halftime. I looked for your green striped scarf but only saw two midleaged guys with similar ones. I could not reach them to ask them for you because I saw them for the first time just as the game was going to restart. (Sorry, but watching the game is first, I know you understand.)

I could not find them or you at the end of the game. I was really looking forward to meeting you.

Next time you need a local guide to help you navigate the city. I could only help you with that if we play on a weekend your next visit, for work reasons. I do hope you will visit us again sometime in the future (next season?).

Fans were waiting for you at the gate because your work on the web is very well respected and appreciated by people here, I for one am very impressed with your commitment and dedication. Keep up the good work.

I hope you figured out what to do today and that you have the very most enjoyable experience while here. You will always be welcomed to our isle.

I'm sorry I didn't run into you as well. I stayed down on the pitch for the first half, and wandered around the stadium for a bit at halftime before spending the second half in the press box. You probably spotted a few Timbers fans who I knew would be there, but couldn't find them myself, so you did better than me in that respect.

You're obviously right about needing a local guide to navigate the city, but despite hitting all the traffic, I had a good time while I was here. I'd like to come back again sometime, hopefully to have more time next time to wander a bit more.

You have a great atmosphere here and a great group of fans, and have nothing but positive things to say about the organization, and Puerto Rico in general.

I'm not sure if you've been reading my Travelogue but it's updated now, and have posted my match report from last night:

Thanks to you and all the other Islanders fans for your hospitality, and maybe I'll make another trip next year. smile

Sure... You are welcome anytime.

(I am the guy who was wearing a River Plate jersey and talking on his cellphone, who looked at you right as you were coming through the pass gate. Sorry I left so quick, my friend was trying to find me and I had to go pick him up.)

Allie: I have been reading your Travelogue and just now put the link in my favorites.

Your update on PR was hilarious. Your description of our traffic and driver behaviour was right on. People driving on the shoulder at highway speeds (I am one of them) and other abnormalities we do, we are so used to it that we do not even notice. But when you describe it for reasons I do not understand it was funny.

Also, your concern about the pink furred "thing" on the pitch and what it was, I do not know either, made me break up.

Really an excellent read. I will probably follow it after you leave PR.

I am really glad you had a good time.

Next time if we can help you with the road navigation you will save a lot of travel time (I know all the tricks and shortcuts).

You have to make a trip up the mountains the next time. You must program more time on the island next time and get in touch beforehand so we can plan something. Different people could have you on different days and maybe you will be able to experience some family hospitality.

Come back anytime.

See you.
