Has anyone seen or heard of Populoso after the Islanders season finished?

I wonder what he is doing now?

I saw Populoso just after the elimination under the train bridge with a bottle that has a label of a man in a horse. He didnt look well.

Ive seen him in different sports events. basketball and volleyball...Not sure, but I think i saw him at a boxing event too.

Was he with his friend the space man mascot?

I heard a rumor that he was going to be in Calle 13's next video and that he may even rap a few lines on their next single. I don't know if it's true or not.

I only hope and pray that I will be that cool one day.

Populoso would definitely be up for a bit of dirty dancing havana nights style the way he shakes those hips.

Not sure though about the rap lines - he is a mascot of few syllables.

Guys I'm sorry to break the bad news, I saw Populoso begging for money like a bum at a couple of street lights lately. Someone told me they saw him going down to La Perla, that can only mean one thing, our poor bear is hooked on Heroine. He is rail thin and has track marks running up and down his fur. Yes, its very disturbing I'm afraid, we are going to have to make some sort of intervention to save our favorite mascot's life. Not only is he drinking Don Q in massive quantities, he's been speedballing like a member of Guns n Roses.

I knew that hanging out with space man mascot would be a bad influence on Populoso.

We must save our hero. Is there enough money left in the beer kitty to send Populoso off to rehab?

I think that the decline of Populoso has more to do with the general depair amongst Islanders fans after our elimination.

It hurt some more than others. These days poor Populoso looks more like that annoying rat off the "Que Suerte" show than the robust bear we all love.

San Juan is a tough town for sports mascots. Just ask Yuppi of the Montreal Expos. You have to train hard, squeeze into a suit that is about 120 degrees Fahrenheit and entertain. Puerto Ricans (and gringos) after all demand entertainment.

An entertain he did. In return Popouloso had media commitments, kids adulation, photo shoots, chicas stroking his hair etc and who wouldn't want that. Now what does he have? Kids 2 year old birthday parties in Vega Alta?
No disrespect there either.

I think Populoso should seek out the advice of Jay Jay the Santurce Cangrejeros basketball team mascot who is a commusate professional who handles the pressure year in, year out.

We all have an obligation to rehabilitate Populoso in time for our run for the USL-1 title next season.

Proud to be from the island? Absolutely! Do I have to go with the flow and agree with everything I see just because certain people think its right? Hell no. All I have ever posted was that the Islander's owners and management are trying to build something here and the actions of a few fans can have a negative effect on it quicker than you think. I have never posted all of Puerto Rico is full of thugs or gangsters but I have called out those who act like them. I've gone to almost every Islanders game since 2004 and have seen great crowds and bad crowds and all I want is everything to be cool, safe, and fun for everyone involved. Breaking down my post sentence by sentence I first refered to Populoso as a bum asking for money on the street. (Infering to rather strange behaviour from our beloved bear, what would make him act so strangely? Hmm... lets see, sentence two) He went down to La Perla (AHA! Strange bum behaviour + La Perla = it doesn't take rocket science to figure it out)

Look, I apologize to the people of La Perla, they didn't deserve my cruel and totally thoughtless joke about the unfounded fact of drugs in their neighborhood. We should all be aware that there are good people living in La Perla and that drugs do not exist there according to P'Rican and Laspada. I am obviously lacking skill in the humor department. I did not mean to hurt P'Rican's feelings nor did I mean for Laspada to come to his defence and pick a fight with me either. I am sorry, it was tasteless and a totally worthless jab at an apparently touchy subject. Therefore from now on I will refrain from talking about the subject because its pointless and I don't wish to fight with anyone. (sigh)

I was going to post something about P and Srta Zuleka but I got afraid that it might be taken the wrong way since I'm a gringo. I was just going to say that they had been seen out together in some night clubs and they look like they are a couple now but I got scared that it would be considered disrespectful. So I didn't do it.

NEVER in my mind did I think, "Populoso is out of a job, he's Puerto Rican, therefore he must start doing drugs". It didn't click in my head like that. I just escalated it from alcohol to heavy drug use for shock effect and nothing more. Some of you took it to the level of the US bombing Viequez which is not right. Whats the difference between being proud your from the Island and proud of being Puerto Rican? Is that some trick question? I am Puerto Rican, I am proud, but some people need to get a clue... scratch that, many people on this island have no clue. They use being Puerto Rican as an excuse to decimate anyting they feel doesn't go their way. I am Puerto Rican, I am also a US citizen if that is what you are getting at, I too am happy to be a part of the US even though I may not like all of its policies. I am glad we have the US dollar and not a weaker one from poorer countries (whose names I will not mention from fear of retalliation from angry and instulted posters). So if you're asking what kind of Puerto Rican am I? I will say I am a well informed international Puerto Rican who likes to keep it real and tries to understand people of all cultures, not just of our own.
