I'm coming to Harrisburg next weekend for an Army welcome home ceremony on Sunday afternoon at the Civil War Museum. My flight gets into Harrisburg early Saturday afternoon, and my schedule will be free until the ceremony the next afternoon. And my return flight doesn't leave until that evening.

I figure since I'll be at the museum anyway, I'll tour that after the ceremony, then have a leisurely dinner somewhere on the way back to the airport. Any suggestions for other things to do in the area? I was there last fall and saw the state capitol (which was amazing!) and a little bit of downtown.

Thanks!

The Whitaker center has an alien exhibite up right now. You could also catch an IMAX movie. It's within walking distance from the capital. If you have a car you could go into Hershey and visit museums, park, flower gardens and outlets. Plus they have a golf course.

Are you alone? or bringing / meeting people. If you have a group Hersheypark might work. If kids are involved, City Island Park is an idea. I take my son on the train ride on City Island before the games.

Baseball fan also? They have minor league baseball in Harrisburg and York now.

Hope this helps.
