The Texas Spurs are doing well. I wanted to comment on Matt Clark's performance. I believe that he is a dedicated player who will succeed in this sport. Keep up the hard work Spurs!!

I agree, Clark is a good player. Also Tafaria Fray and DaSilva have been good so far. Plus Fernando Garcia. Hunter Freeman from Virginia and the U-21's just rejoined the team too

Unfortunately I haven't been able to attend any of the Spur's games this year. I am kept updated by email newsletters. I need to see all of the awesome players. The only one I really know of is Matt Clark. I am interested in the match against the Dallas Burn sometime in June. What are the chances of potential scouting of players at this match?

Hey you should go watch a game, its a fun team to watch, plus they play on a damn nice field thats grass, as opposed to dragon stadium.

Last year in the Burn game they played reserves/bench players of course, not too many starters played. Except I know Jorge Rodriguez played and a few others, maybe Paul Broome, but not sure. I know Amani-Dove was a forward and the Spurs Joard Odera held his own against him, which didn't hurt his shot at the A-League.

As far as scouting I don't know how that works in the A-League or elsewhere. I know it wouldn't be discouraged by the Spurs people since the more guys who succeed from the team means more exposure for them.

I am planning on going to see a game soon. I know the next few games are away. I do not know any info on any of the other PDL teams. Which match would be the best to watch? Also, the games are at UTD. Do many people attend the Spur's game?

The Texas v Memphis game Sunday would be a good one to watch but they are playing the game at 7PM Sunday due to a tournament being played at the complex, the game ends at 9pm and it is an 8 hour drive back to Dallas. Yuck, if it was an afternoon game that would be the one to see.

Don't know much about the Spurs but there is some sentiment among posters to the USLDiscussions group that Memphis, Texas, and New Orleans all have strong teams. Others give Nashville a chance.

The Spurs have only a few June home games but the best weekend may be as follows:
  • Sat Jun 28 8:30 PM Memphis Express at Texas Spurs Univ. of Texas-Dallas Stadium
  • Sun Jun 29 3:00 PM Nashville Metros at Texas Spurs Univ. of Texas-Dallas Stadium

Whether or not these teams can provide a good game depends on several factors. Memphis seems fairly deep but has been hit with what some fans believe are 3 undeserved red cards in 3 games. Their number one keeper has sustained a stress fracture and will be out for 6-8 weeks, or so the doctors say. Fielding the best team among their players may become a problem if the trend continues.

Nashville is off to a good start but will lose players later in the season to "real jobs" and other unspecified absences. Plus Nashville will be playing their second game of the road trip with less than 24 hours of rest, something that occurs only in the USL. Take a look at how the Spurs fare in the coming weekend with Nashville and Memphis for insight into how these back-to-back games affect a team's play.

Depending if both teams can keep it at a high level June 28 and 29 would be my recommendation for some good games. Keep a look out here and the Memphis Express and Nashville Metros websites for the latest news about both teams. There is also an unofficial Memphis Express website that is informative from a fan's point of view.

Yeh I will review the matches in Tennessee this week to maybe determine a Spur's match to attend. I hope the team does well in the Open Cup. They did qualify right? Or is there still one more determining match? Thanks for all the info so far.

I believe the Spurs have been knocked out of the cup with the loss to New Orleans.

If so that sucks. The Cup would have given plenty of exposure and maybe offer chances to deserving players.

Yes unfortunately the Spurs are out. They are in a tie with 3 other teams for first, and there is only one spot for the Southern Conference not the division so the Bradenton Academics may get it by way of 12 pts over 4 games. It would have come down to goal differential so they would've been out anyways.

Bradenton clinched the Southern Conference berth last Friday with a 5-0 win over Cocoa. They were 3 wins and 1 tie for 10 points.

Texas was out of the running after their loss to New Orleans and the New Orleans win over Memphis on the 17th, the fact that I reported prior to the Bradenton game on this discussion group on the 23rd.

The Texas Spurs web site continued to report that the Spurs had a chance for that week when Texas had already been eliminated.

The team has known since their loss to New Orleans that they were out of the running for the Open Cup.
