So now that the Spurs look to be headed tot eh plakyoffs, as long as they do well in the last 3 games. Who would they play? Hopefully not New Orleans right away, although they might be the hosts of the first round with the crowds and the city of course. The Spurs need to have bring your drunken frat brother to the game day so the crowd might liven up.

jimjam - NO still has 5 games to go, hence the other teams might have a chance to catch Spurs if they also have 5 games and you have 3.

I would imagine #1 in our division would play #2 in the southeastern division, and so forth. Ricardo usually knows these things.

Good luck to Dallas!

I know a little bit about college and A-league and am just learning about PDL. Most of what I know about PDL I gleaned from this board and eagerly reading the postings of Jeff Duly and Fanmaster.

From the quote below and previous discussions I believe that it has been the #1 from one division plays the #2 from the other and winners go for the conference championship. It does look as if Texas has the inside track to take 2nd in the Mid South and into the Southern Conference tournament which will hopefully be held in New Orleans.

Each geographically-arranged conference is split into two divisions. The top two teams in each division play a four-team weekend knockout tournament hosted by one of the clubs to determine the conference champion. Then the four conference champions have a similar tourney to claim the league title.

Don't jinx us! We only have 3 games left and Nashville and Memphis have 5.

That's the way it was last season and I've seen nothing to say it won't be the same setup this year. I don't necessarily like it. All four Mid-South contenders have a better points/match number than any of the Southeast clubs, and playing in a tougher division to boot.

The format is the same this year, MidSouth #1 will play Southeast #2 and MidSouth #2 will play Southeast #1, then the winners play for the conference championship.

The top two teams in each division may bid on hosting the tournament, yet the bids have to be in late next week. Who can bid from the MidSouth besides New Orleans? And the week after that the winning bid is announced.

Yet I see the point because whatever team is going to host the tournament from each conference needs to know in advance so they can get the hotel rooms, transportation, stadium and advertising ready to go.

Austin beat Texas 2 - 0 last night, now it is really interesting for 2nd place. There are 4 teams playing for second, Texas is leading the way, 4 points ahead of Nashville, but with two less games to play. Memphis is a point behind Nashville but has 1 game more to play. Austin is right behind Memphis but has 1 less game to play than Memphis.

I have a chart on my fan website and it looks to me like whoever wins the Wednesday Memphis @ Nashville game has the best chance to grab the open playoff spot.

Nice chart, Pat.

This race is getting interesting. Even Austin now has a shot. Was I right about Texas losing one match or was I right? The door is wide open for one of the Tennessee clubs. It ought to be a hell of a match on Wednesday. It's high time for payback for the Express.

JD you were exactly right, you said Texas would lose one.

I cannot see Austin, even with their current position, doing anything about coming in 2nd place. And I don't think Texas has enough games left, so it is up in the air, and I think Wednesdays match will tell it all. I have to root for Memphis but it is definitely Nashville's turn to win.

We'll be heading to Nashville Wednesday and at the game Wednesday night, so we'll see you there.

I updated the chart with Austin and their games, but I don't see them winning enough. They should beat Louisiana and 'might' win one of the three remaining but playing NO twice and Texas once, is a tough challenge.

Texas with only two games left, even winning both will have 34 points. For Nashville to get to 34 points they have to win everything left, assuming they are beating Houston right now, they would have to win 2 out of the remaining 3 and tie another one to tie Texas.

Memphis, even with a loss at Nashville this Wednesday, will still have a chance. With Memphis, a tie with Nashville is a killer, but it would not hurt Nashville that much, as a tie would get them on the same multiple as Texas and I belive that with Nashville and Texas tying for 2nd, Nashville would win the tiebreaker???
