I know that this Team is new in the USL-1 but it looks like this Team is going to have a problem in attendance in the regular season.

Lower Division Teams tend to draw a biger crowd when a friendly match is scheduled against a first Division Team for Example.

When the Fresno Fuego FC (PDL) Plays against Chivas USA it usually has attendance of 5,000+ - 7,000+ and in games against L.A. Galaxy they have drawn around 6,500.

Another example is of the Vancouver Whitecaps.
When they Played against the L.A. Galaxy with David Beckham they drew around 60,000 in Vancouver and I believe they had about the same in attendance in Edmonton.

So,The question is: Will they succed in the USL-1 or will they fold after their first season?

This is an example in their lack of attendance against Housto Dynamo.

Austin draws 2-2 with Houston

4177 is bad?
I think the capacity of Nelson Field is 4500.
What have the Battery been drawing for their Challenge Cup matches?

no where near that number. of course we have three matches in a week and most casual fans will only hit one.

We also get quite a few MLS matches here each year (seven last year) so it is no longer a "big" event. I'm sure I saw more MLS teams here in Charleston last year than some people who live in MLS towns went to.

I think Austin will be okay. It will take time to build a fan base and eduacte the city to there enw team and the league. But there has been soem possitive USL news lately (thanks to Puerto Rico and Montreal)

I read an article in the Austin paper online. No numbers, aside from saying that the bleachers were full with over 4,000. That does not sound bad to me. Their PDL team has done well, I'm sure the Aztex will do well also.

Whoa Leo'o.

That seems like a pretty good draw. Give them a chance, Bro. There were a lot of time when the Islanders drew less than that the first or two season in the league. Sometimes we still draw that low.

Let's give them some time. smile

You would think that in a state where the Sport is growing and there is more latinos who are soocer fanatics specially Mexicans because in our country around 80% is Soccer lovers the Team would have their support and would expect a larger crowd.I seriously expected a crowd of atleast 6,500+ and specially because it was the Dynamo who they played against.

I guess we will have to see how they do in the season and hope they can stay alive!

I still think that over 4,000 is good for that game, even if it was half the size of the stadium. This is only pre-season.
