Former Michigan Buck Jason Perry has apparently decided to retire from soccer. I think he last played for the Bucks in 2003. For the last 3 seasons he's been a Rochester Rhino and before that played a season in the A-League with Syracuse. A native of Detroit, he played his college ball for Oakland U.
I've heard "J Perry"'s name come across our Mr. Duggan's lips a couple of times, each with noticeable affection. Maybe Jason would make a good candidate for the old-timer's game I heard mentioned last weekend.
Even though Perry didn't log a ton of minutes for Rochester, he seemed well liked and his name came up on a regular basis in fan discussions.
A couple of years back, in 2005 I think, we came fairly close to having *four* Bucks on the Rhinos' roster. Kevin Taylor spent I think one season on the bench before moving on to Minnesota, and Mychal Turpin was reportedly the last player cut that spring.
The other Buck/Rhino is of course Nate Craft, who won't be joining Rochester until his season with the Ignition ends. Unlike Perry, Craft is a virtual cipher.
I wonder whether we might have won our 2nd title last August if Mychal had given the game one more try; he certainly could have caught on with *someone* in the A-League. But I've digressed enough for a Tuesday morning.
