Hey all,

I'm totally new to Bucks soccer, anyone want to fill me in on the basics of the supporters group? I'm not new to soccer in America so I do have the basic understanding of the PDL system, but want I want to know is more about how we support the Bucks. Is there a certain section for supporters, is there going to be one now that they have a new home? Is there any Bucks merchandise I should look into buying like scarfs or shirts etc?

Just a little background on myself, I've been a supporter of trying to get an MLS team to Detroit and I finally realized that we may not have a Detroit team any time soon but we do have a good soccer team that I should get behind, and not gona lie having their own stadium makes it a little more attractive. I've been a huge fan of the MLS, probably because my family is from Malta so we are accustomed to a "small league soccer" and just because its a small team that may not be that good doesn't mean you shouldn't support them. Good or not they represent you and your city (or in this case our whole state). So I will be a proud Bucks supporter, and I may just drag a handful of my buddies up to watch the games too!

Thanks and glad to be here!

You sound like you would be a tremendous addition to the supporters group. (If you know anyone else...let us know -- it's a growing group)

The supporters group has been talked about for a long time...and it finally looks like it's going to happen. I'm not sure who's going to be leading this crazy band of fans, but I'm sure if you follow this message board, one will emerge, and we'll have ways to get involved.

The Bucks have a strong history, among the best teams at their level, and being involved with them will certainly put you at the ground level of the MLS movement. Hopefully a solid Bucks' supporters group will lead to bigger things down the road. Right now, there's no way to prove that there are soccer fans in the Detroit area, and this is the only way for fans to show their support for the sport.

Hey thanks alot!

I have a lot of friends who are soccer fans that I have been recently talking to about the Bucks. Surprisingly a lot of people have heard of the Bucks if they do soccer things around the area, and alot of my friends are itching to find a team to support. We will be to as many home games as we can for sure! Now is there any way for the Bucks to move up to like the second division? Or are we most likely going to remain a PDL team?

Look forward to having a blast this summer!

There's no promotion/relegation here in the United States (that's a discussion for another time) -- in summary, it's unrealistic because the United Soccer Leagues and Major League Soccer are competitors, and have a different league format/business model.

The only way that the Bucks could move up to a higher division is if the ownership decides to. All you need is to pay a franchise fee, and obviously have the budget to PAY players (which they do not do at the PDL level, since the vast majority of the players are in college.

If you have any more questions, the people on this board know their stuff, so ask away.

Cool stuff, ya I knew there was no promotion league between MLS/USL, but I was just confused on the promotion of USL teams. It makes sense though that we would stay PDL, but I guess maybe with our own stadium to play out of that may help us generate some more revenue and than a possible move up? As you said maybe for later discussion. But this is all really cool, hopefully it takes off, and I can't wait for May 17th!

And if you've got friends who are interested...the best thing you can do is to send them to this message board...it's the best way for people to organize and communicate about the group and to keep up with info on the team.
