Great job on Saturday! The Herd is off to a great start. Keep spreading the word, and keep making noise!

This Saturday's game vs. Fort Wayne takes place at Independence Park in Canton. The address is:

1898 Denton Road
Canton, MI

Craig or Marc, could you create a Facebook event for this game?

The game begins at 4:00 PM. We've got a tailgate planned in advance of the game...what time did we want to start that? We'll have food and refreshments, so come out early! We can also go over & amend our list of chants for the game.

Post your thoughts for the game here, and we hope to see you out there!

Ok I'll get on the Facebook group for sure. I think the tailgate will start around 1ish?? Does anyone know much about the Park? As in do they have those little outdoor grills? Because if they do I can grab some hamburgers and hot dogs for it.

Also I will try to get the Flag taken care of this week as well.

I would doubt to try for a tailgate at all. Last year, I had to park far up the road, and walk the distance to the park. (And there were players and their families who had to walk much farther than me.) (Also, last year, the game was played in a constant downpour. But the weather reports look for it to be perfect this Saturday.)

Remember, this is not simply playing a game in a park; it is playing a game in the middle of a tournament taking up six sites and 22 fields at Independence alone.

In such an environment, I doubt that they would allow open grilling. My best suggestion would be to grab your six-packer, and fill it with a couple cold-cut sandwiches and your favorite (non-alcoholic) beverage.

You can always look up details at http://www.cantoncup.net/

A tailgate can probably be done if coordinated the right way. Parking will be tough, but something can be done.

As its one of the biggest tournaments in the state every year, I would bet that some of the families with kids participating in the tournament will be grilling. I don't think its an issue if you guys can bring one of those portable grills.

I disagree with SJJ & agree with DavidS, circumstantially we should be able to work something out for getting a tailgate/BBQ going. 1:00 works well for a start time.

Oh we are tailgating, that wasn't going to be up for debate...we will find someplace to do it, rain or shine (and it looks like shine) we will be there...again hopefully I can get the material and green and orange flag made and you can look for that.

I'm arranging with the tournament organizers to give you guys some space next to the RV section, which coincidentally is right next to Field 7 where we'll be playing. Should find out more in the next few days.

If last year is any indication, you guys can really put yourselves on the map with a big showing in Canton. Last year, it was rainy and sloppy and miserable, and the game still drew really well.

I'm working and then heading up north this weekend, so I can't make the game. Be loud, make some noise, and get noticed!

See you guys in June for the next home game

That's a good point by Scott.

Marc: Bring flyers...tons of flyers...about the Herd to the game!

We've worked out space for The Herd at Independence Park this Saturday.

There is an RV parking area on the northeast corner of the park (where Proctor and Denton meet). I think theirs a pond there as well. They'll be expecting you guys around 1PM and we've reserved 4 parking spots, so some may have to park and walk. I'll get together with Marc or Dan to give you the passes that need to go in the cars that park in the area.

Only thing they ask is to remember that it is a youth tournament so don't get too out of hand.

See you guys on Saturday!

hey boss, why not just go buy an irish flag? if i knew where a flag store was, I would go get it...btw, do we still have balloons? those were a huge PR success for the crowd.

I can stop by the grocery store tomorrow and we can buy a few burgers and hot dogs for sure.

And I don't want to buy an Irish Flag because the team is not Irish...
