Since the Hammers probably won't make the playoffs.....what are our chances to progress in the Ope Cup?

Getting past Atlanta will be tough if we play like we did last Saturday against Charlotte we won't beat them but if we play like we did against Richmond I think we'll advance.

To me the the tie with the Eagles Saturday was a result of 2 great goals especially the Chase direct kick (YES, the Hammers can score on a set piece!!!) and great goalkeeping by Bart. The Eagles seemed to want the win more, fought harder and earned the tie we were lucky to hold on to the tie.

A chance to photograph my 2nd MLS team in two years. Wouldn't miss it for anything. Congratulations on the win tonight. Since New Hampshire lost, the Hammerheads are the last remaining USL2 side in the tournament, so represent us all well (not that there's any pressure or anything like that. ) And how about the Dynamo defeating Seattle 3-2? Be safe, whoever comes out to Charlotte on the 22nd.

Hi all,
I made it home at about 4 a.m. I just wanted to thank ya'll for the hospitality and everything you did last night. It's great to see such dedicated fans for a USL-2 team. Congrats on the win. I just feel things would have been different under normal circumstances for us. Either way, it was still an entertaining game.
One thing that stands out (and tell your players this if you talk to them): Several of the Hammerheads thanked us for coming to the game - that's the first time opposing players have ever said that to us who travel, and it was truly a class act on their part.
Best of luck against RBNY. I hope ya'll can fill your nice little stadium.

Glad to hear y'all made it back safe. It was a pleasure meeting all of you, and I think all of us Firm loonies were very happy indeed to find that you're not only devoted Silverbacks fans, but devoted fans of the sport as well. You're welcome here any time.
And good luck against Portland Saturday! We'll be rooting for you.

Congratulations on the win and it was a plesure to meet you all. Hope you can beat the Red Bulls and like HG2 said please thank all the Hammerhead players for coming over and thanking us for making the trip. They are a class act just like their fans. Thanks.

Be there this Weds. It's not too often we get to play an MLS team. We are the last 2nd division team left in the tournament. We're not supposed to win this game. Let's prove them wrong. Giant killers , that's what we are!

Good Luck on Wednesday. I'll be rooting for you all. Just remember to heckle Richie Williams for us (what I love about the Hammerhead fans....I know that I can request something like that and that it will be carried out in a good natured way. You can't say that of all teams)

Thanks for the good luck wishes everyone. I know this game means a lot to the players and they will be working very hard. We have been known to slay a giant (2003 Dallas got burnt in Legion 4-1). I hope we can topple another. Does everyone know about the audiocast for tommorow nights game? I will go find some links and post soon.

I just talked to a Red Bulls Media person. There will be an audiocast in spanish and text updates on their site. There will be no english audiocast. The media rep. said it would be free but when you link it takes you to mlsnet and they have a once a season fee of $4.95 to listen to any MLS audiocast. Links: Audiocast Red Bulls site

N.Y. leads Charleston, 1-0 at the half. Houston leads Carolina, 4-2 in the 2nd half

New York scored in the 4th minute, so they lead Wilmington, and Dallas leads Charleston, 1-0 approaching halftime.

That's confusing, I thought you meant Carolina for a moment. Both are named the Dymamo. Of course you mean Houston.

Considering that you had already said that Houston was leading 4-2, it really shouldn't have confused you in the least. It would be impossible for Carolina to win by that score. Of course this is you that we are talking about. You would get confused. Never mind In one of the prediction threads I had said that the only game that I could 100% predict was that the Dynamo would win. No matter what, that prediction was going to come true

Unfortunately (IMO), Charleston is making their game interesting to say the least
Actually, it looks like it is Dallas that has made it more interesting than it needs to be

USASOC, she simply said Dynamo would win (no Houston or Carolina). Both teams named Dynamo so her prediction was always going to be right.
Confusion reigns supreme in PA.

RBNY fan "Flyin Ryan" post on BigSoccer.net that I thought was well done & worth reposting here. -Dust
"Just got back home from the game.
First off, glad to see the boys in red win 2-1.
The first half was pretty much RBNY controlling I thought, and the second half was pretty much Wilmington controlling until our second goal. Both of our goals seemed to be when they hadn't set themselves up, the first one with Stammler in the 4th minute and the second one from we didn't know who scored right after the equalizer (I see now it was Cila). I was with 4 guys (a couple at least post here, one was lfci) that drove down from New York.
We were real pissed off after the Wilmington goal. Stammler and a Hammerhead were going for the ball and the ball went out of bounds off the Hammerhead player. This was right in front of us, who were front row at midfield, and right between the benches. Ref gives the ball to Wilmington. Richie is pissed, Stammler is pissed, and Stammler gets a yellow. Well a minute later Wilmington scores. Everyone around us is going nuts. Well by the time the crowd settles down I look up and RBNY have the ball in the box and the ball goes in the net. Crowd went death quiet, while we were jumping up and down, and I felt a bit of a drink hit me. The RBNY reserves went off the bench, ran down the sidelines, and were cheering the goal (the one that stood out most was Conway). The rest of the game was pretty academic, Hammerheads had a couple half-chances but that was it.
As for analysis, I guess Magee didn't play too well tonight. Buddle stood around a lot unless he had the ball I think. Stammler gets mood swings, or at least he did tonight. Seems like in the second half we played too cautious.
As for atmosphere, me and the 4 travellers were the vocal part of the RBNY support. There were a few more I think I saw but they were subdued. To the left of us in the stands were the Wilmington fan club, the Port City Firm. I would say 30 or so of them, they were loud and had a drum (so did we). The Port City Firm were nice and chatted with us before and after the game and during halftime. At halftime, a person that said he was taking pictures for usopencup.com took some pictures of us RBNY supporters sitting down with the Port City Firm behind us giving us mock choke holds, so look for that on the game recap there.
The stadium looked about 2/3 to 3/4 full, if I had to guess I would say 3000 maybe (I'm terrible on guessing attendance).
Only bad part of the night was after the game, one of the Wilmington fans behind us tried to steal lfci's Red Bull drum when no one was looking. Luckily, a guy that I guess helps run the Port City Firm ran after him and got it back, saying he almost got into a fight over it as the guy at first wouldn't give it up. That was nice of him at least.
We won the boiled peanuts!
On a sidenote, it's a bummer all the non-MLS teams are out."
