Good luck, he has no talent, no fan base and no decent ownership to work with.

Message from big soccer. People have opinions already????? Are we giving him a chance or what?
""Now, as to your comment about the new coach. Have you done any research on him? This is his first head coaching job, so yes perhaps he may be inexperienced. Does that mean he won't be good for the club? No, asolutely not. He was an assistant coach before b/c everyone starts as an assistant coach pretty much (By your theory, Portsmouth hiring Tony Adams to be the new coach is terrible b/c after all Adams was only an assistant coach, he must be terrible then). Now lets look at the facts. The new coach is one of the youngest to ever receive the UEFA A license. He's the youngest to ever be a key speaker at the NSCAA convention. He grew up in the West Ham academy reknowned for creating young talent (played along side the likes of Joe Cole, Michael Carrick etc). Was good enough to sign for NEC Nijmegen an Eredivisie team in Holland as a young professional. His father was the legend (and I do men LEGEND) Alan Hudson who is still reveared by Chelsea fans, which means that Anthony grew up in a soccer home with one of the greatest English soccer minds of his time.
So considering all of that, there most likely isn't a single coach in USL2 with those kind of credentials (in fact there isn't). Does that guarantee success? No, nothing is guaranteed, but I'd say we should give him a fair shot. Now before you go off calling me an RMD supporter, I could care less about the team to be honest. I actually played against them last year and they were crap, and that's probably an understatement. But I do know, personally, this new coach and have trained under him and believe me the man knows what he's talking about.
Take all this for what you want.""

Difference being Pompey were landed in it by that double judas cockney bastard 12 hrs before a game.
RM sacked their coach last season, and despite the change showed no improvement.
As an aside, I know of one lady who asked to leave the ground to get a coat as it was cold, and they tried to charge her extra money to get back in !

from local soccer site.....
Hudson’s rapid progress has turned heads in USL circles, with league president Francisco Marcos tagging him as “one of the best up-and-coming young coaches in the game.”

Alan Hudson might have been a Chelsea legend, but he didn't get that many caps for England did he ?
OK 2 more than I did, but I always felt he failed to reach his full potential.

yeah its seems you've got a point scrumpy....
'''Alan Hudson was one of the most naturally gifted midfielders of his generation, a skilful and natural playmaker with tremendous vision and comfortable using either foot, yet his career was marred by controversies and injury problems. World Cup-winning England captain Bobby Moore once said of him: “Alan Hudson could have conquered the world, but there was no guarantee he was going to conquer his temperament.” Hudson made his Chelsea debut as a 17 year old and in the 1969-70 season he established himself as the team's playmaker, creating goals for Peter Osgood and Ian Hutchinson'''

First of all: Why are we bashing our new head coach and even more so his family? For the club to land such a qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable coach should be exciting to everyone. What other coach in the USL has the credentials Hudson has? Lets have an open mind and show some support as a true fan should . We can not afford another disgraceful season like 2008 and the club has made the necessary steps in my opinion to turn things around and make it a great club.

Experienced ? Where has he been the head coach before ?
I wish the lad & the team well, but to be honest how many players sons go on to do anything in the game ?
The only three I can think of who have any management experience right now are Nigel Clough, Kevin Bond & Darren Ferguson.

I am a Palace supporter but I have a lot of respect for the Monarch ownership, the management and the fans that travelled to UMBC to support their club... But there is no way that I would call ther first season "disgraceful". Like I told some of their management when we chatted at the DC United-Charleston Battery USOC Championship game (RM were supporting the USL brethren over our local MLS side--they had a banner and everything)--the Puerto Rico Islanders first season was painful. Crystal Palace needed some time to get started last year. Bermuda had a rough start but showed some improvement last season. Carolina Railhawks struggled. It's not easy being an expansion club. There is a lot to learn. Some tough blows to the head were taken by all of the clubs... RM wasn't disgraceful. They had a hard inaugural season. No disgrace in that. Look at what went down with Alas, Cerrito and the very overated (yeah, that is my opinion) Quintanilla not making it because the Ticos of Alajuelense bought his sporadic brilliance and the hype. RM should have gotten a draw in the final match of the season. The officials bothced a call and my Palace boys got that result with a lot of luck and some help from terrible officiating. That's my two cents...

Scrumpy, what is your problem? Either you have a personal issue with this kid or you are jealous? Read his bio please. He has experience and so what if not as head coach? USL2 is the perfect place to start. If you don't support him then so be it, but at least have some class and leave his dad out of this.
Yankiboy, 2-5 / 0-6 / 0-8 ! Disgraceful was the only appropriate term I could find.

I think you are reading way too much into Scrump's comments about the kid's Dad. I haven't really seen any bashing. Actually I haven't seen any at all.
You also need to understand his sense of humor - his dry English wit. As in he is from England. So his above comment about "being English was a good place to start for being right about everything" has NOTHING to do with you at all. He was basically just saying (joking) that he is always right because he is from Englad.
But you are correct in your last comment. Doc is a nice guy. He's one of the best

I just think that one has to remember that the inaugural season, this league included can be a very, very dificult one. I believe that RM will do much better this year.

Just sayin'

My 3 year old daughter and I rock Palace gear and CP from the complimentary fuzzy typed dice (that hangs in my daughter room coz I just can't bring myself to hang on my car rearview mirrow--just not my style) and keychain to our scarves. My daughter can name several Palace players and their positions. Brian Rowland is her favorite. I worked with Pete and Jim and the Puerto Rican Federation to arrange a Puerto Rican national team call up for Carlos Morales for the previous World Cup Qualification cycle.I have been known to eat complimentary Palace food at the VIP tent (when I can bum some).
And most importantly, I roll with jackcfl and his lovely wife, Leslie--the BIGGEST PALACE SUPPORTERS THAT YOU WILL EVER MEET and the 35ers...(ok, maybe I shouldn't bragg about rolling with Kool-Aid and the 35er's) :p That's how we roll.

Wow, I hate I missed this thread. Hudson is a great guy and has a good coaching mind. I'm a little biased as he coached my son's club team. The team had a horrid season under him but that was his lack of experience coaching kids and not men. I know several players that were under him as an Asst. coach For the Hammerheads and most gave great recomendations. The next year with a new coach that had more experience coaching kids coached the team to a double overtime loss for a bid to go to the state cup quarterfinal game. I could easily say he's a bad coach but it was not his coaching knowledge but more his inability to motivate an under performing kids club team. I understand why this happened when you are used to motivating professional motivated players and you don't have to worry about offending their parents. He was also too busy with the Hammerheads to devote his time to the club team. I called it in the beginning of the season as any Full Time employee of a USL 2 team is basically modern day slave labor. Hudson spoke with me about his Dad and growing up in that atmoshere. Soccer (footie) is kind of big sport in England and a great athlete like Hudson's dad will be revered by Chelsea fans and not so much by fans of the other clubs. Chelsea fans say he made great contributions to the club and the national team. Fans from other clubs will say he didn't live up to his potential and should have helped make the national even better than it was. When you are gifted at something and you reach the highest levels of it, there are pressures that most of us will never get to experience because so few get to that pinnacle in our lives. I think he has lived, read, watched, heard every positive and negative story in the media and has made peace with it. I think RM fans might take offense too easily of DS's comments in this thread. Knowing that he is not a Chelsea fan and is an Englishman, growing up in the media surrounding the time this all happened, I think his comments have been restrained for where his point of view is coming from. That was a scary place inside DS's mind. I think I need to go take a shower now. In all seriousness congratulations to RM and their first year coach on a great turnaround season. Good luck to them in the future except when playing the Hammerheads.

Hudson has moved onwards and upwards... he's now managing Newport County in the Conference Premier. . They're an early favorite for promotion next season.
