Gary brooks is an elite player at the USL2 level. Elite. His speed, his abilities, his finishing. I love the guy. He is great with the kiddies and the supporters as well. Until his move to Real Maryland, I used to wear a shirt with his photo on it that jackcfl and his wife gave me. I am a HUGE Gary Brooks supporter.
Having said that, I am still waiting for the chance to tell him in person that I was disappointed with his celebration after scoring his first goal against Palace at our place.
It is an unwritten rule of courtesy to your old supporters that you don't flaunt your first goal against your former club when you come to visit--not because of any feelings that you have for your previous club's management or ownership but for the fans.
While I wouldn't say that it was anywhere near as disappointing as LeBron James not shaking hands with the Magic the other night (no matter what Dude says, it was being a "bad sport" and it is not behavior fit for a "King")--I still plan on having a word with Gary over it.
The only reason that I didn't on Friday night is because he didn't come over to greet any fans after the match and my 4 year old needed to get to sleep. Probably a good thing because I was getting angrier the more that I thought about it.
When I see him, you can bet that I am going to mention it, and it won't be to long after the "Hello, how are you doin' Man?"
Sean Rush is also lighting us up. He assisted Gary's late game winner on Friday and he assisted a goal at the game that we played at their place.
Gary and Sean are both very, very good players. I like them both a lot and I wishe them the best.
