Hey Peoples!

There has been a change of venue for two of the CPB games:
LINK

The "Border War" (Richmond Kickers) on May 5th and the first visit of the Bermuda Hogges on June 16th have been changed to the MD Soccerplex in Germantown.

I don't understand the logic of the moves. Is moving those two games to a site even more into what is considered DC United's marketplace (I'm not talking geographical distance folks, I'm talking more perception than anything else) really going to help grow the club?

What about people who bought their tickets this season thinking that they only had to travel to Annapolis? If I lived in Harford County and I was travelling all of that way with a van full of kids then I would be ticked off.

2 of the 10 regular season home games got moved to what amounts to 50 miles further away from what was heralded as the home field for this season.

I wonder how the Annapolis based sponsors brought on board for this season because the club was supposed to be playing all of its home games there feel.

What gives with that?

For me, I live in Laurel, so it is "six of one, half a dozen of the other" but some people had alread bought their season ticket plan and they might consider the changes to be a bit a of a "bait & switch" situation.

Well, It'll be Saturday afternoon, and we get to go west (inner loop)on the beltway, so it might not be too bad traffic-wise. But yes, it is disappointing not to get to go to Annapolis, which would be a much more interesting/nicer/shorter/less traffic/etc. trip.

Not that Germantown isn't nice...

The Soccerplex is nice and Germantown is ok but is sure isn't as cool as Annapolis.

Think the Annapolis sponsors are mad? How about the original Aberdeen sponsors that are 60 miles away?

I'll deal with the Germantown drive. The main wonder I have is the attendance... The Maryland Soccerplex holds 3,200. Apparently there are that many season ticket holders alone. Maryland Soccerplex

I sort of question that number. Just call it a hunch.

I will be really surprised if I get to Annapolis and I see 3200 people, let alone paying adult customers. That is a lot of season ticket sales. I just wonder if it is very inflated. Maybe I've missed all of the advertisement that the club purchased. I'm sorry but a couple of pressers in Annapolis and a recognizeable name (for many of the fans a least) on the jersey--I don't know if the Blast has 3200 season ticket holders.

If CPB has that many season ticket holders in the bag alreadym then they have worked a grass roots miracle. That would have to push them towards the top of UD2 revenue.

I could be wrong but it just sounds a little too good to be true. Just one clown's opinion...

Yanki,
I agree with your thoughts but that is what I'm being told from the staff. Granted they did also say something about a million dollar roster so you could be on to something...

I hope this club doesn't become one false hope after another

Maybe they gave season tickets away to youth groups or sold them at a massive discount.

Well that sucks. There goes my plans to go to the games then to my best friends and son's god parents in Mayo, Md just south of Annapolis. Did I mention their house is on the Rhodes River with a jet ski?
