Crystal Palace USA Announces 2007 Roster

The Crystal Palace USA Eagles announced their roster for the 2007 season today following a successful training camp which saw the team go undefeated in it’s last three scrimmages and showed a marked improvement from the squad that assembled six weeks ago. As with all rosters, this is merely the one with which Palace will begin the season and will probably change during the course of the campaign.

Josh Alcala – Midfield / Forward. “Gumby” was with the Gamecocks from 2002 through the 2006. In 2006 he garnered 1 st team Conference USA honors. In 2005 he played for the Austin Lightning of the USL’s Premier Development League. His special message to fans is that he is a Filipino/Hispanic.

Taj Alvaranga – Defender. Tajie played the 2005 season with the Northern Virginia Royals of the USL’s Premier Development League. His special message to the fans is “Come and enjoy great soccer”.

Mateus dos Anjos – Midfield. In 2006 Mateus played in Moldavia for F.C. Olimpia Balti. His special message to the fans is “Have faith in God and Yourself. Don’t give up!”

Michael Behonick – Goalkeeper. “Bo” was 1 st team All Patriot league for the 2001 and 2002 seasons. In 2006 he was on the roster of New York Red Bull but he did not make a first team appearance. He played for the Charleston Battery of the USL’s 1 st Division from 2003 through 2005.

Daniel Capecci – Midfield. “Ducati” has played for the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL’s 2 nd Division during the past three seasons and prior to that he played two seasons with the Syracuse Salty dogs of the USL’s 1 st Division.

Sergio Flores – Forward. Flores scored 8 goals for Crystal Palace during the pre-season. He has represented the United States with national team appearances at the U-18 and U-20 levels. Sergio was selected to play for his home-state’s MLS entry, Real Salt Lake, during their inaugural campaign. In 2005 he spent time with RSL’s first team and reserves. His professional resume also includes 2 seasons with the Strongest F.C. in Bolivia and 3½ seasons with Charcrita Juniors of Argentina.

Robert Fucci – Defender / Midfield. Fucci played the ‘04 and ‘05 seasons for Stony Brook and before that played two seasons at St. Peter’s College. Last season Robert played for the Long Island Rough Riders of the USL’s 2 nd Division where he was named to a team of the week.

Shintaro Horada – Midfield. Shintaro survived Crystal Palace’s open tryout to earn a spot on the 2007 squad. He played the 2006 and part of the 2005 seasons for ALO’s Hokuriku of Japan’s J-League. Prior to that he was with Tokushima Vortis. His special message to the fans is “I’ll do my best for Crystal Palace FC!!”.

Bryan Harkin – Midfield. “Harley” was a member of the USL’s 2002 Premier Development League National Champion Cape Cod Crusaders.

Andrew Herman – Forward. Andrew played for Rutgers in 2004 and prior to that he played with American University for three seasons where he garnered first team all-Conference honors in 2002. In 2006 he played for the USL’s 1 st division Virginia Beach Mariners.

Ibrahim Kante – Defender. “Abe” should be familiar to local soccer fans since he has played on the last two Baltimore Blast MISL championship teams. Ibrahim has also played for the Kansas City Comets and St. Louis Steamers of the MISL as well as the Milwaukee Wave United of the the USL’s 1 st Division.

Larry Mark – Midfield. “L-Boogie” played for American University in 2005 and 2006 where he scored 11 goals and 7 assists in 37 matches. Larry’s special message for the fans is “Follow your dreams and always believe in yourself no matter what”.

Andrew Marshall – Defender. “Marshy” capped off his college eligibility with the Captaincy of the 2006 team that advanced to the Sweet 16 of the College Cup. His special message is “Put in 100% effort 100% of the time and you will succeed.

Matthew Mbuta – Midfield. Last season Matthew played for DPMM F.C. in the Malaysian Super League, this team represents the country of Brunei Darrusalom. Prior to last season, Matthew played for PWD de Bamenda of Cameroon First Division.

Brian Rowland – Goalkeeper. Brian played the just concluded MISL season for the Baltimore Blast. He has also played locally for the Chesapeake Dragons (2001 & 2002) of the USL’s Premier Development League. During 2003 and 2004 he played for his hometown Toronto Lynx of the USL’s 1 st Division. Rowland has also represented native country on Canada’s U-20 Team.

Sean Rush – Midfield. Sean In 2005 Sean played for Treviso in the Italian Serie B. His special message for the fans is “Its all within”.

Charlie Sheringham – Forward. Charlie is the son of Teddy Sheringham who is still playing forward in the Premiership at the age of 40.

Lewwis Spence – Midfield. Lewwis has seen limited first team action with Palace’s UK parent club and has mostly played in reserve matches. He is expected to join the club following the conclusion of Palace’s Coca Cola Championship fixtures.

Alex Ughiovhe – Defender. Alex hopes to be a mainstay of the “Palace Guard” from his central defender position during the 2007 campaign. His defense bolstered the backline of the Howard University Bison from the 2002 through the 2005 seasons. In 2005 he was team captain and was chosen by the Chicago Fire in the 2006 MLS draft of college players. Alex spent the 2006 season playing reserve matches for both the Chicago Fire and DC United.

Harold Urquijo – Forward. Harold has played the last three seasons for Academia F.C. in the Colombian 2 nd Division.

some decent talent there but with their reprted payroll there's noreal WOW factor... you should make the playoffs though.
