Words fail me as I try to explain the thoughts going through my head now. Last September 11 at 8:46 a.m., I was on an airplane making its final descent into Detroit, and I can't tell you how lucky (but guilty) I feel because our plane landed safely that morning while my wo-worker and I were oblivious to the horror occurring in New York, Northern Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

Please keep the victims (and their families and friends) of last year's attacks in your thoughts and prayers today. Cherish your friends and families as we are reminded of how precious life is, and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you today (and every day).

I think you did very well with your words Pattie. Thank you so much for posting this.

And let me take this time to say how much the people on this forumn have grown to mean to me. Not only the forumn but the whole Kickers organization. I've said before that it feels like a family and I'm proud to be a member. I have met so many great people this summer and have made some great friends too. I appreciate each & everyone of you all.

I'm going to borrow Pattie's little smiley icon, because its such a great one:

Pattie, you summed it all up. ever since that horrendous event occured, i have thanked God. My brother had just flew out to LA from New York two days earlier. It would have been the same flight on september 11th. My mom was down in Atlanta at the time. So basically my whole family was apart at that time. I mourned with my father on that day. But we eventually got back together and mourned. Everybody that is alive in America should feel lucky that they are Americans.

I too would like to say that Pattie chose the right words to say. For me I have stayed away from radio and Tv the last few days. Personally I dont like to watch it or hear about it. I know it happened and I deal with it in a different way. All people deal with situations like this in different ways and that OK. After all thats one of the things that this country is all about. This is the greatest country in the world. Its times like this when sports and leisure take a back seat and we all come into one fold for a common cause. One other thing I would like to point out that I think has gotten lost amongst everything is our military. I agree that the people who responded to the calls for help that day one year ago were heroic in their deeds. But our military needs to know that they are very appreciated by the citizens of this country. I have been close to military people all my life. From my family and friends down to my co workers. Everytime I hear the Star Spangled Banner I think of them. They have kept us free to do the things that make life abundant. Without them where would we be? Just my two cents.

I saw this at a local church a few weeks ago and thought it was appropriate.

God Bless America , America Bless God

Hi, I was at a school today where they were playing 2 soccer games and one filed hockey game in a central area. A stadium and then 2 auxilary fields next to the stadium. At the start (different start times) of each game during each national anthem ALL EVERYone stopped! The games that were going on stopped and everyone everyone stopped. You could see so much more purpose in everyone. It was silent. This happened three times for the three games. It was very very moving.
I have nothing more to say on the subject.
