Dempsey has long been rumored as a candidate for transfer to a European league; he has trained with Dutch team Feyenoord Rotterdam in the past and has stated that "there are some teams interested in the EPL." In August 2006, Charlton Athletic offered a transfer fee for Dempsey of $1.5 million. The offer was rejected by MLS, disappointing Dempsey who felt the move was necessary for him to continue improving. Dempsey stated that he will not stay in MLS when his contract runs out in late 2007, regardless of salary.

The last rumor I read about Dempsey was that he'd be going to Spanish Club Real Zaragoza.

I like Clint as a player and he pulls off a lot of stuff that a lot of players dont do in the MLS. He is a gifted player with the ability to beat players, he reminds me of someone like Gazza or Hoddle or something.

I think he would be suited at a team like Tottenham or something. Just need to quit rapping lol

He won't last two seasons in Europe... I'd expect him to be back in the MLS sooner then later.

He's pushed off the ball too easily, he tries to force passes into spaces that don't exsist and most importantly his ego is larger then the state of Texas.

If he stays in Europe past two years, he'll be finding his success with a Scandanavian club.

I like Dempsey also. I like his competitiveness, but I do have concerns about his temper. I heard on the MLS first round tv coverage that he was headed overseas after the finish of the season. But they never said where.

Donovan is a player to me that seemed to have all the tools but was to much of a wuss to play over seas.

Easier to be a big fish in a small pond I think sums up Donovan rather well. Clints temper may be an issue but its worked well for some other players with long running stints in the game.

Jred, If he went over seas do you think his style of game would have to change? reason I am asking is that many players notice differences and I think he would be a bit part player to start with and then maybe 2 or 3 seasons in he might become a starter.

As far as Donovan goes, I don't blame him for not wanting to play overseas. True, it improves the players with more experience, but it's also risky as to whether they get more playing time. If he ends up on the bench, he is better off here. That's what happened in Germany. I did not like the performance(or lack thereof) he put on in Germany during the W.C., but I respect his talents.

Players shouldnt be affraid to ride the pine until they prove there worth. Donovan to me never stayed in Germany long enough to make a point.

He simply couldn't hack it out there. He has never tried going to England, Spain, France etc etc and I think as before he just knows he is a big fish in a small pond here in the U.S

I mean look at the two players who are American at Reading. The goalkeeper (Hannaman (Spell check)) and Convey.

They started in a lower league and got promoted into the premiership. I am more than sure there skills have improved because of that.

Donovan is my favorite American Player I would like to be like him,atleast on my Indoor games.

JB, I see it as the coach(or manager as other leagues title the position). He should have made room for Landon and he never gave Donovan a chance to prove himself. You can blame Donovan if you want, but I don't think that's justice.
