El Patriots defeat the Calgary Storm, 4-0, with goals from Jose Abarca in the 8th minute, Dominic Shell in the 51st and Renato DaGama with the last two in the 63rd and via PK in the 81st.

Jesse Llamas had the shutout in goal, but went virtually unchallenged throughout the game.

El Paso has been rumored to have worked hard by head coach Milton Queiroz. "Tita" indeed seems to be the first Patriots coach in a long while to have his team organized. Calgary on the other hand looked disorganized, but some strong defense by El Paso may have had a lot to do with that.

None of this flitting around, looking for someone to pass it off to as in previous seasons. El Paso looked solid in all facets of the game and the attack was strong and well thought-out.

Great job!

Thanks Vox.

It wasn't the match report that I had been hoping to read, but at least it was timely (unlike USLsoccer.com)

Good luck with the rest of the season (except for three of your games, of course), it sounds like youv'e got a good team down there.

Cheers

People I do not do the matchday threads just for the hell of it. The purpose of those threads is for discussion about that particular game, whether it is before the match or when the game is over. In the future post results in the matchday threads. I will lock, and maybe even delete, future threads that give results and are not in the matchday threads.

Anyways, Duke it looks like the team didn't do as well as we thought. J.Y. Ferry posted on the matchday forum that the Pat's played "lackluster". Oh well, shows what we know wink laugh [lol] Nice job with the play-by-play, too bad the P.A. system sucked.

Chill, son!

Thought the matchday thread was only for leadup to the game. I'll make sure to post on it.

As for the P.A. system, there's not much you can expect from the same speakers used by President Roosevelt on his last campaign stop in El Paso. Next weekend should be better. I hope.

A few quick thought. Finally no more "Rock Kids". They really bothered me. They would draw out the promotions too long. Good Riddence. Second, loose the music during the game. That is annoying. Third, good game for the Patriots. Mabye we can convince the A-league to schedule the first game for every new team here in EL Paso. One other thought. The fitst half was relied too much on playing over the defense and having one Patriot forward running on to it. With the strong wind, that is really tough. The coach made some great adjustements at half-time and encouraged a short-passing attack. The result was due to this. Calgary did have nice uniforms.

Actually, I'll admit I was wrong. I think we should have the matchday thread to lead up to the game and then another with the result. That way anyone who wants the result won't have to dig through the thread. So for the rest of the season will do it that way.

Anyways, the P.A. system is that old? Holy crap. So vox do you know if the Pat's spent a considerable amount in fixing DF up?

The FDR reference was a joke. I think. But yes, the whole thing is pretty darn old. Don't know if it dates back to the 40's, but it's certainly at least 20 years old.

Went to Dudley yesterday for a meeting and the sound people are working on the problem now. Either those horns will work or they'll get some temporary amps for this Saturday.

And, yes, Cervantes has spent a boatload for new locker rooms, the paint, the new press box across the field, the field itself, etc., etc., etc.

And after all this, these people still can't help from the city.

The city either needs to give Dudley to Cervantes (which won't happen because the zoo is getting ready to expand) or help him build something completely different.

Does anyone have photos of Dudley Field? Also, what was the attendance for the Calgary match?
