Well, here it is. The Patriots have named Miguel Murillo as thier new Head coach and Director of Soccer. This is huge as Miguel and the Patriots agreed to a three contract which will build consistency into the programs. Miguel will not only oversee the PDL team, but he will direct youth operations as well making him full time, year 'round. (something we definetly needed). The Patriots will be hosting its Inaugural Showcase Tournament this weekend and Miguel will be on hand so stop on out to the Patriots stadium and meet him. Try-outs will be held in March and this gives the coach the opportunity to invite some players to the try-outs. Exciting times for soccer in ELP. As this has come together, the Patriots Youth Academy will grow from 110 players to about 300 players making it the largest youth program in ELP.

Murillo is a previous Pats coach right? The three year contract sounds like a good idea. I suppose part of the closing was bringing his youth teams to the Pats. He should do well with the academy since he has been coaching youth teams ever since he left the Patriots. I wish him and the Pats a good run this coming summer.

We are excited here. With over 16 years of professional playing and 8 years coaching both professional and amatuer in the US and MX he will be the one that brings the championship to El Paso. His vision and dedication to player development is crucial in bring bigger soccer to El Paso as well. With this signing the Patriot Academy will field teams at all levels and the goal is to have a well defined path for players to advance. In addition, we hosted the Patriots Showcase Tournament this past weekend and not only was the weather great, but the soccer was awesome as well. There were a lot of good teams and we are excited to see some of the players return to our try-outs March 22nd. Four teams advanced out of group play this weekend and they will play on Saturday the 1st of March. (first game kicks-off at 10:00am). The four teams that advanced are: Galacticos, El Paso Toros, Manchester United and Las Cruces F.C. One of these teams will get $1,000 at the end of the championship game which will kick off at 4:00pm on Saturday. Anyone can come out to the stadium and watch and there will be concessions available as well.
