El Paso gives Mississippi its first home loss ever
Clinton, MS - July 12, 2008 - After being down by 2 goals thru the first 45 minutes of play, the El Paso Patriots came back in dominating fashion to secure the win and hand the Mississippi Brilla its first home loss in the history of it’s franchise.
El Paso’s first goal came in the 65th minute off the left foot of Defender, John Crawley. Assisted by Enrique Cervantes, Crawley launched a beautiful shot that bent into the upper 90 of the goal box. It was John’s first goal of the season. The equalizing goal came in the 87th minute scored by Defender Hugo Samano with the go ahead goal coming in stoppage time from the mark with Samano posting his second goal for the night after Forward Michael Greigo was taken down inside the box by Mississippi.
With game time at 5:00 pm and temperatures and humidity being extreme, the Patriots did not relent. The win gives the Patriots 24 points and further secures second place in the divisional standings as they continue to make thier push into the play-offs.
The Patriots next game will be on the road against the Laredo Heat and then will return home to play thier final regular season game at home versus the Austin Aztex on July 19, 2008. Game time is set for 7:30 pm and it will be the first ever Patriot bobble head night. The first 1000 fans thru the gate will receive a free bobble head of player Enrique "Kiki" Cervantes.
