Well, I'm sort of an Okie, not born there but father was (Bartlesville/Tulsa) and we moved to OKC right after the war (WWII) when I was less than a year old. Grew up in Tulsa mostly with trips up north and then back to Tulsa for most of grade school and h.s. (Kelley) and then attended Tulsa U. Transferred to Pittsburg, KS.

I worked for about 2 years as a radio news reporter/announcer in Joplin during that time and graduated and after service came back to Ponca City and then went to grad school and got a full time job at OSU as a writer.

Still have family in Ponca and Tulsa. Ran the races at Ponca City several times as well as the two tracks near Tulsa.

Very nice! Tulsa's a beautiful city -- a lot more picturesque than OKC with all those rolling hills. Ah, the lovely Turner Turnpike!

I remember Joplin a bit as well, as it was along the highway (I-44) my family took to go see the grandparents in southern Illinois.

Perhaps one of these days I'll wise up and move into education to make that "real" money. (Well, it's more real than mid-market radio, I'm sure.)

How'd you come to enjoy The Game growing up in football country?...The "other" football, of course.

Chicken or egg?

Can't remember exactly but 20 years ago one of these happened first and then...

1.) Football Made in Germany on PBS...need I say more?

2.) Looking for sport for my 5 year old. Soccer started earliest and was, at the time, the "new" sport that was anti-baseball's "parents from hell" syndrome.

3.) Looking for a sport that had a cool uniform and would take my kid at 5 1/2 or so. Figured all that running and none of the b.s. of baseball

Sounds like you and your family have had quite the ride and are still enjoying tooling about here and there.

Regardless of what your son would have played, I'm sure he would have enjoyed the experience. Wandering around the Southwestern and Southern highways with a bunch of northerners and Canadians for the last five years, I can attest to the fact that it's a pretty fun ride. For most of these guys -- especially at that level -- the ride is all they'll get. But, hey, there are a lot worse ways to make a living. The only thing that gets old is the bus. My butt is about five years older than the rest of me. Hey, at least in the A-League all the travel is by plane.

Would I trade it? Nope.

Passed by DF this morning, and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The field is beginning to look really good. If I can one of these days, I'll take my camera to try and get some pics.

Joe Muench: It\'s been a good week for soccer

With all due respect but.........
20,000 in the Sun Bowl to see the Pat's play the Galaxy? On a Tuesday? WTF are you smoking Mr. Doblado? I really hope you are right, but I have my doubts.

* To the senior UTEP Miners men's basketball players - Good F****** Riddance!!!!! You a******* embarassed my school long enough. Brian Stewart - you sir are a f****** piece of s***. Thank god you are leaving. God knows I wouldn't be able to put up with your playing another year. You are 6'10, 240 or so pounds yet you play like a sissy `nsync boy. And to Chris Neal, drop dead a******!!!! How in the hell did you decide to be up in someone's face with 4.7 seconds left in a ball game having a 3 point lead? You should of left him alone, the worst that would of happened would of been another OT. But no, you f****** idiot had to go and f*** up. Like I said, drop dead dumba$$.

In case anyone is wondering what I am talking about: UTEP season dies in OT

One more thing, Rabeaudeux you better make sure you sign Keion Kindred. We need a PG for next season. If you don't, everyone associated with the Miners will give you hell.

I'm back!!!

I have had a couple interesting things happen to me since I last posted (Almost a month). A couple of the events:

* I finally switched majors. I am now in business
* I finally went to a Buzzards game. That sh!t was fun. I gotta admit though, the Coloseum sucks for hockey. Wouldn't it be possible for the Buzzards to use the Don Haskins center every now and then?
* I expirienced my first broken heart. Burn in hell you bitc........ eek
* Levi's closed down. frown
* I came close to winning a lot of cash. Of course freaking Kansas had to lose.
* I realized Ozzy Osbourne f*cking rules. I love that show.

New Arsenal home and away kits with new shirt sponsor

Nike what the f*cking hell are you doing?!?!?!?!?! Is it your mission to f*ck up every kit you a$$holes make? I just hope that the same sh!theads that design the soccer shirts are not allowed nowhere near the Brand Jordan designers.
