well, has anyone actually heard of a date for these tryouts? Seems odd since, if it is going to be in Feb. there isn't much lead time to buy airline tickets etc. My son has not received any word and he's emailed, phoned and mailed them several times.

Hampton Roads tryout was a fiasco.

Unfournately your guess is as good as mine or Duke's. I was thinking that maybe the fact that there are only 2 people working in the front office currently as a reason that your son hasn't heard anything. Or there could be another reason, but I wont go into that one here on the boards. IIRC, tryouts are usually held sometime in the middle of February. I'll keep my ears and eyes open and let you know ASAP once I find out the date.

I'm sorry to hear about your son's luck at the Hampton Roads' tryout.

He made some player contacts while there and talked with a kid who went to Duke and was on U-17 nat squad whom he had played against in ODP Regional action. Kid's black from GA. Don't remember his name. Guess my son might see him at the Atlanta tryouts later this month. And, then, he's been invited to preseason with Rampage, so El Paso might be out of luck if they suddenly announce their tryouts on the same weekend as Atlanta.

WTF is up with the Patriots? How come we haven't heard anything about tryout? IIRC, by this time last year tryouts had already been announced. Why haven't we heard anything? Is the team trying to discourage certain individuals from trying out?

talked with my kid the other day and he said that he's been officially clocked in a very high tech/high dollar professional strength and conditioning program he's doing for the 4th or 5th time at 23mph on their high tech treadmill. That is exactly what he did before his knee injury.

He says he's sure he can hit 24 mph on the thing and that will break the old record of 23 mph..which, of course, he holds. The people at this company only know of one other professional athlete who has been recorded going faster and..if I'm not mistaken, that was 24 mph!

Been a while, so I'm not sure of the figure, but he can run 15+ mph backwards.

Next time you're around a treadmill, try either one of those...but I doubt if the mill will go that fast anyway.

He's getting ready for next weekend's invitational tryout with Atlanta and then, in the near future, pre-season with Milwaukee. He's also got a contact talking with Riverhounds but can't see that they really need anyone since they've signed and re-signed a lot of players, many of them former MLS guys......and PATS haven't had a tryout yet!!!

The El Paso Times reported today that there would be open tryouts starting monday. Who knows what that will bring. Hopefully these will be conducted openly and without preconcieved notions. Any idea if the three draft picks will be there?

jfl99 is going to have a field day with this. Tryouts are scheduled for this Monday, March 4. According to the EP Times tryouts wll be from 2:30-6 p.m. Monday at the team's office. They really are doing everything in their power to make sure outsiders don't tryout. God forbid someone out side of this area would actually want to play for this s*** *** ****** team. :rolleyes:

Just checked air fares. These would cost $700+ on Southwest..only high dollar tickes left.

7 days notice, like the weekend of the 9/10th and the tickets would cost $244.00 total.

MONDAY (!) afternoon (!!). Who in the heck is available then? Not one tryout I've heard about has been held on a Weekday except for Atlanta which started on Friday afternoon.

Actually, as I understand it, it appears that the tryouts will go on through out the week.

Any news about the tryouts. I really want to know who tried out and if the team is already complete. I know the Pats draft pick, Ahmed Figueroa, will be joining the team in June.

I know it doesn't sound very dedicated but we decided not to spend the better part of $1,000.00 on a tryout for a team that doesn't have the decency to return letters, faxes, emails or phone calls and then schedules a tryout 4 days in advance in an effort, it seems, to not attract out of state players.

If given ample time to buy low cost air fare, we'd probably be there in a flash.

He reports to Rampage April 1st for a week long deal there.
