The Patriots last night beat the Memphis Express by going ahead by 1 goal early on and sitting back on defense the remainder of the game. The defense and keeper did an awsome job against the Express.
There were two Express goals called back, one an offside I believe and the other a foul before the pass that would have been the assist (I am not sure the keeper did anything since the whistle had blown). Anyway many of the fans thought they were robbed but I think they were good calls.
There was another time an Express player was taken down inside the box but I do not think it was the El Paso persons fault, it seems they were just both going for the ball and the Express player just could not keep their balance.
The El Paso goal was one of many many shots in which the Memphis keeper came out and stopped the play by sliding feet first, he got caught on one play and did not get there in time and left the goal open. He did get a finger on the ball but the shot from about 18 yards was hit much too hard to stop it. I guess the Express were lucky that did not happen more than that. Memphis was playing so far up that every ball hit by El Paso on a break away was almost a 1 v 1 against the keeper.
Tonights game against the Metros will be a different game, the Metros have a good assist system and if the El Paso defense gets spread it could be a long night.
