Myself and my wife will becoming to the back to back games away leg (For Atlanta) at the Blackbaud in May or June cant remember when the fixtures are now, but however we will be there.

I also think drummer and his wife will be their also.

I just have a few qustions, I am 22 years old and my wife is 20? will she be able to come into the bar with me if we want to go and relax.

2. Is the bar english style themed as i saw a set of dart boards, which you dont see in many pubs here.

3. Is their a Snooker Table, for all of you that dont know what snooker is, its a game pretty much like pool played on a 6foot by 12 foot table.

Rules of snooker.....

Hope to see some of you their and also hope to see the backs winning.

1. Yes, she can get into the bar. The bar itself has no age limit, you just have to have a pass.

2. Darts, yes.

Spear one of the lions though, and you're in deep doo-doo.

3. No snooker table, one regular pool table. However, in addition to the regulation foosball table, there's a couple of game tables I've never seen anywhere. I don't even know what to call them and I can't find any pictures of them to post. I assume they're pub games normally found in England. Maybe someone else who knows what they're called will post something.

Look forward to meeting you and the Mrs.

Bribe-taker summed it up well.

It not uncommon to see the players kids up in the pub after the matches. Terry Phelan's youngest came up to me last year, crawled up in my lap and tried to drink my Guiness. He muct be all of three goingon four!! Its was great. You wont feel to far from home in the pub either as you will hear quite a few British accents. Unfortunantly, much to the disappointment of most, they don't serve Tea (unless you want it Iced)

I would recommend going up to the pub before the match to take in all the memrobilla though, as after the match it is usually packed and it might get difficult to take photos if you wanted. That way you can concentrate on drinking after the match! What's your poison, Guiness, Bodington's, Amsel light, Bass, Let me know and I'll buy the first round to celebrate a Battery victory. (If Im not back, maybe I could get them to start a tab at the bar for me?)

Im not a drinker, but i dont mind the odd pint. I use to like heinken when i was in england or carlsberg.

But now the taste of beer is just stale, American beer also seems to be a little watery comapired to things like old thumper.

?? I heard a rumor that people drink beer warm here ?? yuKKKK...

I couldnt drink if the backs lost, i would be in mope mode. (sulking, also gotta drive back to dekalb for return leg the next day)

I know what your talking about - I definitely consider myself English but have got used to saying British to most Americans so as not to confuse them (no offense guys). I guess you're a shandy drinking Southerner and that's why you can't hold your beer, you should have made a few trips up North to see how it's done - we can drink the Jocks under the table any day of the week (not sure about the Irish, they eat Guiness for dinner).

JBG - the pub pic looks good, are you sure it's not computer generated - it looks a little too clean to be a proper English pub.

Chris, it's an interesting place to visit, although I wouldn't even begin to compare it with an English pub. Roderick and I sampled the place when we took the Kickers to Charleston in the play-offs last season (unfortunately couldn't try the alcohol 'cause we had to drive the K-mobile back home), but there is a decent amount of standing space (something sadly lacking - and I know why - in Virginia's bars) in the bar, plus there was free food before the game too. Also plenty of footy shirts from around the world (though mostly English) and a lot to look at. If you (or anyone else) ever get the chance to see the place I highly recommend it, just remember to let me know if the beer is up to standard.

My wife considers herself more British but her father is from Glasgow and her Mum is from York. She lived most her life in London, Bath and Cambridgeshire though. But she refuse to cnsider herself European (as most Brits would)

But its true that it not really that traditional as far as your local might be, its more of an English "theme" pub done well. For one it is over 5000 sq feet, probably three times most pubs I've been in. But its here and very convenant for pre and post match beverages smile

So Englsih-Fan, are you planning a road trip down this year? I'll even buy you a drink if you do.

Mikey

I've never been to England so I can't say what a proper English pub is. I would guess it's been "Americanized" to some degree and I've heard some people describe it as "yuppy". In any event, I think of it more as a soccer museum that just happens to serve food and drinks. And because it's on the grounds, it just makes it very convenient on game day and a really fun place to hang out with your friends.
