Ok this is not really a soccer qustion at all. But seems you all live in the area of Charleston then you should be the best people to ask.

Ok i got my work permit on November 13th and have been applying for jobs here in Rome,GA until today and proberly will still be applying for days to come.

My wife and myself were going to come to charleston a while back, but plans went hay wire and it never did happened ashame really.

Again Myself and my wife have thought of moving a few time from Georgia and were looking a Charleston as a possible move. We only rent an apartment on a years lease deal. so moving as regards to a contract is not a problem.

I grew up living 15 mins from the sea so i could handle the coastal town life style and all the annoying tourist who mess it up for the locals. I know you guys must give tourist the wrong road dircetions for fun sometime, i know i did.

Basicly i just wanted peoples views on the area and how likely it is to find work in Charleston or its area at the moment. My wife works for the American red cross and could possibly get a job transfer.

Of course i would go to some Battery soccer games..Just because there isnt another club around for miles i bet...But I will still be a Silverbacks fan...Might where a backs jersey to a battery game to see what happens.

You can E-mail from my e-mail address on this forum or post here which would be easier.

Cheers JB.

I'm in the military (USAF) and travel alot, and I think Charleston is a great city. Great food, history, shopping, beaches, golf, nightlife. Charleston has alot to keep you busy. It was rated one of the top ten weekend getaways by Conde Nast travel magazine.

As for the work side of things, not really sure what you looking for. Check www.charleston.net that's the local paper's website and they have a classified section you can look through as well as the business section which might help gauge the job market. I also imagine the Red Cross has conciderable job slots around the area.

You should make a trip down for the DC/ Battery match up and check out the city and see some good soccer. And don't worry, we'd give you a warm welcome even if you are wearing a Silverbacks kit, just ask Writer and Drummer.

JB,

I also extend a welcome to you, as Mikey did, and assure you that wearing a 'Backs jersey would not get you mobbed and beaten. We really have a very good relationship with the Atlanta team, and its fans.

More to the point, I would suggest you look away from the City of Charleston if you are considering moving here. Job oppotunities and homes exist outside the city, and even the county. All still within easy travel distance to all the city offers. In your searching, I would suggest you explore what Dorchester County and Berkley County have to offer. Your wife would likely be welcomed by the local Red Cross Center in North Charleston, but you need not be constrained by residense for her to be employed by them.

I don't know from your post what kind of job you are looking for. But I suggest that if you are seriously considering a move, you look well outside the penininsula.

You will be welcomed, whatever. We can convert you. If you're already a fan of Battery West, changing to Battery East is a smooth transition. wink
