$10 to $25 Million entry fee.

Agree to terminate all player contracts and be allocated a new group of players by the league.

Expand Blackbaud to 30,000 capacity.

It's that easy.

Stadium Isn't big enough for one thing. I think the MLS requires at least a 20,000 seater stadium and some sort of proven track record of a fan base big enough to support the market.

Also if you think your teams CCC and Open Cup ventures are enough to put them in the MLS I think you will find a lot of people disagree.

Charleston as far as I know have never won the U.S Open Cup and CCC is just a pre-season warm up thropy (I don't think they have won that either have they? I might be wrong) Your one USL championship is a great thing but there are bigger and better teams in the USL who would have a better stake at the MLS than Charleston.

But you have to snigger when you think about Toronto.

Considering the Silverbacks have knocked you out of the U.S Open cup in recent seasons and won more southern derbys does that mean there status should be MLS? I doubt it.

Don't get me wrong, Charleston has great fans and a great stadium in a beautiful location. But as thing stand at the moment they are not an MLS product, could they be? I think they could be.

Also I think the owners like the USL life style so to speak, I donno.

Plus Silverbacks need someone to pick on each season lol laugh

I'm sorry, Allison, but I've seen this claim repeatedly, and it just smacks to me of the common "MLS are incompetent maniacs" theme so frequent here. While I think it's clear Charleston wouldn't be able to compete in MLS with the squad it's currently got, is there any reason whatsoever to think that MLS would demand that the team to release all its players. Can you offer a reason why it would do that?

As for the rest, yeah. Charleston can have a team when its population increases by a factor of 10.

As far as I know, MLS still allocates their players with the contracts controlled by the league. Contracts are not controlled by the team so if the USL Battery cease to exist, that would mean releasing them from their contracts, correct?

Now maybe they could make some kind of arrangements with the league to have the players signed to MLS contracts, then have some players end up back in Charleston if they are not allocated to other teams, but unless something has changed and the MLS teams hold the contracts and not the league, I don't see how the contracts could stay under the control of the Battery.

If MLS has changed in some way I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong, but as far as I understand it, if a USL team wants to get "promoted", their gonna get a new batch of players because that's how MLS works.

JB, We can take it, plus u caught us in an off year. Question: don't the Monkees play the Rhinos in a real pre-season game in Cary, NC soon? Are you prepared to predict a score? Any chance we can have Fabian?

the mls way of football is stupid

they should just go to the promotion relegations system because the mls are just out to make a fast buck but not paying worth a crap.thats why they get old useless players like djorkaeff and all good americans go overseas because the oldies could live off whats in the bank and just wanna keep playing but the goodens have to go oversees to actually make back the time and effort they put in to make it in the footballing world.
and to the thing about the stadium i also think is stupid because the mls are also cheap skates because instead of building stadiums they play in football and baseball stadiums. the battery have a beautiful stadium and if they added on to the east stand and put stands on the goal sides it would be even better...and why would the mls require 40,000 seats when i dont think that many people have ever went to a game in the mls.

Dawkins, Ummm not you cant have him unless we can have hollywood in exchange? laugh

I hope you have many more off-seasons for you to be caught on then lol wink I don't know enough about the depth of players on the Silverbacks roster and the Rhinos have made a lot of changes I will say 2 - 1 Rochester win based on history and the teams lack of pre-season to date.

JBSilverbacks, Where the hell did Fabian come from? Was I thinking of the singer? Uno I was talking about Fabian Dawkins, so thanks. I loved Fabian (sounds better than Dawkins) last year. Very, very fast and always around the ball. I have said before there should be an investigation of why he is not in the MLS. Hello, Columbus and Red Bull!!!!!!! Of course, being from SC, we know how you GA people keep your players, i.e. start up the banjo musik.
