hees and article
http://www.ussoccerplayers.com/latest_soccer_news/499106.html/

not knowing the current situation as to who is returning, I can only speculat as to what what kind of plyers we need. I think Forward is pretty much a given.

Roger Levesque would be great as he was on loan to Seattle last year and proved he could play at this level.

Both Nana Kuffor and Alain Nkong might make good additions too.

a couple other names worth watching

Ryan Suerz is a vocal cocky type on the feild that you hate on other teams but if he is on yours, you love. He comes with some medical baggage though with his concussions.

Kenny Arena might be worth it just to see if his Dad shows up in town.

other MLS teams get first dibs on these players and then retain there rights for the next 12 months (similar to the Ezra Hendrickson situation)

RSL info from Deseretnews.com:
RSL already eyeing 2006 campaign
"For Salt Lake, Brian Kamler (retired), Dante Washington (retired) and Rusty Pierce (already released) will definitely be on that list. As for other RSL players who will make that list, those are the tough decisions Ellinger will be faced with this week.
Players who might be on the bubble include Jordan Cila, Tiger Fitzpatrick, D.J. Countess and Adolfo Gregorio."

Revs update:
Oursports.com

The New England Revolution placed seven players on waivers today: forward/midfielder Connally Edozien, midfielder Gilberto Flores, forward Jamie Holmes, midfielder/forward Ricardo Phillips, midfielder Marcos Romaneiro, midfielder Luke Vercollone, and defender/midfielder Easton Wilson.

Funny, I actually like Romo and Cuadros off of that list.

Others I like but don't necessarily think we should add include:

Eric Quill
Mike Ueltschey
Kenny Arena
Nana Kuffour
Tim Merritt
Jason Thompson
Roger Levesque
Connerly Edozien
Stephen Armstrong
Devin Barclay
Diego Serna
Wolde Harris
Alain Nkong

The ones I might most like to see wearing the yellow and black next year would be Quill, Kuffour, Levesque, and Harris especially with Quill and Harris being Clemson products. Serna and Nkong are intriguing but Serna would demand $$$$$$ and might actually wind up, I think, back in Miami. Nkong was too enigmatic for me in his time with Colorado. I'd also like to see Thompson & Merritt brought in on a trial if they don't catch on with any MLS clubs.

I wasn't too impressed with Wolde when he was here. he just seemed like he was "bidding his time" and didn't seem to give it his all. In fact he made simmonds look like a real go getter. Plus he isn't getting any younger.

Prehabs if we weren't just a temp. fix for him he would do better.

here is an updated list

Chicago Fire

Andy Rosenband
Demitrius White

Chivas USA

My two conditions on Wolde is he'd have to have some sort of conditional contract depending upon his behavior and he'd have to be able to go along with what the coach says. He'd also likely have to come on the cheap knowing this is likely his last professional stop.

Wolde is past it and his wheels are almost flat and completely dead. With a squad like ours, we need some strikers who have some pace to them. If we are going to nab that goal poacher we desperately need, he has to be a clinical finisher, especially if he has no pace like Wolde. Sadly when it comes to Wolde his main asset is using his size and now ever so fadding pace. He hasn't found the back of the net on a consistant basis in years...gotta pass on him.

Serna is a mental case and would only tare the lockerroom up. He has zero leadership abilities and a rather large head to boot, not to mention a large salary. He killed his career in Miami...plane trips to S.A. all season long, infamous sucker punch in the playoffs and a pretty pitiful goal record the past few years. No way this guy settles in on our squad. No disrespect at all to Auggie but I couldn't see Serna taking him or the squad seriously. When it comes to Stan Collymore types such as Serna, we are simply "too green" for a player like him.

Kenny Arena... his name is the ONLY thing worth mentioning. Other then his over hyped Dad Kenny has nothing to offer. He couldn't crack a pisspoor Metro lineup and the same go's for his time in down at DC Utd. I've seen six year old's with higher skill levels then him. To be honest, he's not even talented enough to wash my car.

Suarez is another Serna type character and also has some health issues aswell. He couldn't keep a steady spot on a weak and often injured RSL backline and his bust up with the coaching staff was no shot in the arm either. A veteran player like Suarez needs to add some quality leadership to a young core of defenders, which is unfortunately a trait Suarez can't bring to the table.

Out of the cut list... a few affordable players that stick out who could start and has some upside..I hope we take a look at :

Ramon Bailey... similar mold as Khumalo, but the kid has skills and some serious potential.

Cochrane... would add some punch to the defensive core and wouldn't shake up the chemistry of the backline too much.

Levesque would be a dream pick up but I think he's happiest on the west coast so I wouldn't hold your breath too much on that one.

Dustin Branan...looked decent at times and has some rather well played reserve matches last season. He would be a nice addition and most importantly, out of the whole lot he's the best US born player available next to Roger Levesque. That's big when you consider our rather high level of foreign talent.

Pierce, Flores and Romo are on the bubble for me, but out of the three Pierce could actually be the find of the year. He has the potential to break out of his funk in the smaller spotlight of the USL. The only downside of Pierce is when he's off, man he's OFF. Flores would be a nice stop gap incase Justin gets injured and his addition would also keep Lazo in the midfield and not in the backline like last year.

Say what you all like, Wolde can still get it done...I know you wouldn't rather have Greg than WH these days...he was solid early in the year for the Rapids (before they got Kirovski and Dedi)...he's a respected veteran and I am sure his price isn't what it used to be, and thus an attractive option for most any USL-1 team...Hector Cuadros is a solid player who unfortunately had a head injury in the season and was brushed aside somewhat by Westerhof after Rongen was released as coach...he led the team in goals for awhile, but rarely played after HW came in...

An interesting fact, Andy Rosenband was at the Charleston Tryouts previously (2004?) and I believe even signed (briefly?). Do any of the other waiver list have previous Charleston experience?

I think he did sign for about a month or so before playing with the Chicago reserves. I can't see him coming back, though. Harris was here for about a month or two as well before going back to MLS the year before last IIRC.
