The New Look Blitzz scored early, then coasted.

Tonight was my introduction into the world of Blitzz-mania. Here was a novice’s view of the game, as a guide to others who might be considering going:

The highlights were:
(1) The people behind me who seemed even less knowledge about soccer than I am. Early in the game, the lady behind me commented, “He just hit that ball with his head!!” and a little later, an impressed “whooooooaaaaa” as the ball flew way up into the air.
(2) Meeting Maldini and hearing his group yell, “Man those socks are ugly!”
(3) The total lack of excited sound after the other team scored their one and only goal. Did they have ANY fans there?
(4) Hearing the crowd screaming as the Blitzz scored the first two goals as I was still trying to find my way into the stadium from my parking spot. It’s definitely a good idea to get there early, as I found out the hard way. And last but DEFINITELY not least…
(5) During an unusually quiet moment when the crowd wasn’t making much noise, one player loudly said, “Ahh S***!” which was heard by everyone in the stadium.

Not much to compare with the FF report, but there you have it folks.

I'm telling you, Nike is conducting a continuing experiment to see how ugly they can make soccer uniforms before people stop buying them.

1) The 1996 Galaxy home jerseys.

2) The 1995-6 Baby Blue USMNT jerseys.

3) The Cruisers 2003 socks.

That was pretty much it. The Blitzz got 3 within the first 30 minutes, and then played defense for the whole second half. Sackett looked good.

The weather was nice, though, with the cloud cover....cooled things off a little.

Yes, Sackett did look good. I was very impressed throughout the game. Who will the Blitzz be playing next Saturday?

Nice effort for the Blitzz. The first half they look as organized as I have seen them all year. The 2 early goals set up by Medina's long crosses into the box got us started, but the third goal was a thing of beauty with several players involved in the play which cumulated with Jorge making a great effort to chase down the ball to keep it in play and passing it back to Mark Evans who blasted it into the net.

We kind of lost some steam in the second half with the substitutions and the Gold are probably looking back at all the opportunities they had before they finally got the consolation goal in the closing minutes. Nevertheless, the Gold should have a lost of confidence and next week's game could be a close one. (Last year the Blitzz had an easy time with San Diego for most of the year, but had to go about 25 minutes into OT to get the play off win.)

I wish I could be there next week, but have to help a family member move. Hopefully we might get a national chamionship game at home in a few weeks.

I think the formation/personnel adjustments have done wonders. Moving Breza to sweeper and Munoz to defensive midfield Medina has helped limit opposition chances. Chad played well too.
The last 2 weeks Curran has earned his spot on the field too.

I think the Blitzz wing play has got to be the class of D3. Even long time right back, Casella, is making waves at left wing. Then the outside backs get involved to add even more to the attack. (See examples 1&2: Kiko to Westcott & Curran). The Gold didn’t seem equipped to handle the long diagonal crosses from Kiko.

The first half was vintage Blitzz soccer. Attack early and put the other team on the ropes. The chatter among the players kept things organized and play flowing.

New player thoughts: Evans & Kiko Medina are major deals. Let’s hope they stay with us in years to come. Dartt & Junior aren’t working into the lineup as well. In one of the papers CA talked about lineup experiments. I can’t believe we can’t get more than 30 minutes from Dartt. Junior looked to be skilled but out of sync with his teammates.

Wait a second, you are trying to say that Curran JUST earned his spot on the team in the past 2 weeks? I think you are mistaken. He earned his spot the second he took a step on that field.
He is one of the most exciting players to watch. 2 week...give me a break.
