So any information on who would replace Miami (assuming they fold in a week) at the US Open Cup? Do they let one more MLS team qualify, or perhaps have the PDL champ last year as an automatic qualifier giving the PDL - 9 teams and taking the USL - 2 champ as the other USL 1 type team and the PDL champ as the other USL - 2 type team. No wonder the USsoccer will never say anything about the Cup until is practically starting.

the last time this happened with VA Beach, they gave a pass to the runner up in D2, which was Charlotte. Also Richmond was given a pass last season after the Victory went kaput, although they didn't pull out last minute like Miami will, if indeed they go.

The problem now though is that there isn't an extra team in USL-2 to give the place to. With Cleveland moving up to USL-1 there are no extra teams in USL-2 to take the slot which means they either go to PDL, NPSL, club teams or up to MLS.
If they are after money they probably let in an additional MLS team in (hello RSL or DC United defending champ). This despite already having them scheduled in MLS open cup qualifiers.
I just wish US soccer would post more about the tournament. We find out about everything from other sources rather than the tournament sponsor. Thanks to USOPENCUP.com for helping keep us informed.
